About Denying Access: NoDAPL to NoNAPL (2019, 95 min) is a gripping and emotionally charged documentary chronicling the Water Protectors at Standing Rock and Seneca Territory working to oppose the Dakota Access and Northern Access Pipelines. This Indigenous-led movement has brought together people from around the world in an unprecedented call for the recognition of Indigenous rights and an end to an environmentally destructive fossil fuel industry. Senecas went in large numbers to "stand with Standing Rock” against DAPL and came home to find another pipeline, NAPL, being planned just upstream from their territories. Produced by This movie will be released online February 22nd, 2019 free of charge via private Vimeo link for Indigenous educators K-12 and tribal colleges with a formal request on school letterhead. Indigenous homeschoolers please send an email introducing yourself and agreeing to share your youth's comments about the movie with us. Email SenecaMedia(at)sni.org Filmmaker bios: Jason Corwin is the Executive Director of Seneca Media and Communications Center. He has been a photographer, videographer, and media producer for over 25 years. For the past 17 years he has worked extensively on the intersection of digital storytelling, environmental education, and Indigenous ways of knowing — teaching media production and sustainability to a wide variety of Native youth and youth of color. Jason has a PhD in Natural Resources from Cornell University, has extensive experience in DIY renewable energy, and is an avid mushroom hunter. He is the co-founder of the Defend Ohi:yo’ community organization. Tami Watt is the Editor of the Seneca Nation Newsletter and has 15 years of media experience. Since starting at the Seneca Nation as a Media Specialist, she has worked within various departments from the Seneca Language Department to the Tribal Historic Preservation Office and the Seneca Media and Communications Center. Along the way she gained valuable skills that allow her to bring her unique creativity and cultural sensibilities to her work. She has been a lifelong resident of Ohi:yo' (Allegany Territory) except for when she attended Haskell Indian Nations University for her Associates Degree in Media Arts. She values her culture, traditions, our Mother Earth, and will always take action to protect the environment for the next seven generations. Tami is a photographer, videographer, graphic designer, mother of four, and enjoys beading.
